The Lighthouse at the Cove By: Amy Clipston
"Home is Where your heart is"
Home, has many definitions and meanings for us all. For some of us it is the place that we grew up, for others it is where we live. Once we can truly realize that home is not just about the four walls or the physical place we live, and open our hearts to those we love, we really find our true home and a inner joy and happiness that truly allows us to reach for all our dreams.
In The Lighthouse at the Cove freelance travel writer Kaiah Ross is looking for that place. Growing up in the middle of her sisters, Kaiah has felt lost and alone since her mom died and her dad abruptly remarried a woman with a houseful of boys. Kaiah his closest to her sister Kam, but finds herself running around writing travel articles. We meet up with Kaiah on her journey from Maryland to Florida hitting small coastal towns for an article she is writing. When her beloved range Rover, Daisy, over heats in the charming pictersque town of Coral Cove, she is stranded. With not much money, and a several week wait (parts for repairs have to be ordered from the UK) Kaiah feels lost and alone.
Enter TDH (tall, dark, handsome) firefighter Reid Turner. After bumping into each other at the local coffee shop, where they are mistakenly given the wrong drinks, Kaiah is smitten. As Reid and Kaiah are introduced, he realizes he might be able to help this young, stranded travel author in return for her help. He has a garage apartment that he agrees to let her stay in while waiting for her car to be repaired, all's he asks is that she writes some articles to help promote the Cove's annual festival.
Kaiah agrees, as she feels not only a connection to Reid, but to his sweet and loveable six year old daughter, Piper. As the two bond, Kaiah finds herself falling in love with the town, Reid's family, and the historical lighthouse. Kaiah feels drawn to the lighthouse, as a small piece of connection to her own late mother and a special lighthouse they had visited before she passed away. When Kaiah learns of the town's struggle to put on their annual festival, rebuild their beloved elementary school, and desire to renovate the lighthouse, she jumps in with both feet to create a festival that will hopefully turn things around to this beautiful coastal town that is slowly stealing Kaiah's heart.
As Reid and Kaiah work together on the Light the Darkness festival they find themselves falling in love. Reid loves her devotion to his daughter. As the town comes together with an amazing festival, Reid and Kaiah find themselves slowly healing. Neither of them want to see their time together, but will Reid, Piper, and their beloved town be enough for Kaiah? Can she give up her dreams of working for a big national travel magazine for a small community, for love, and for the hopes of a future together with Reid and Piper? She soon learns, through the hope of a small town, that when you have family and someone to love and cherish, you are not giving up your dreams. A place to call home, and surrounded by people she loves, she discovers, is where she truly belongs.
The Lighthouse at the Cove brings a charming beach town, and the healing power of love and the beach together to bring healing to Reid, Kaiah and sweet Piper. Amy Clipston brings the characters to life, and you will feel like you have made new friends. So, if you are anything like me and you love Christmas, but then are ready for spring you do not want to miss this book coming out December 2, 2025. Curl up in your favorite blanket with your fur babies and be transported to the beach and feel sun wrapped around you as you sink your toes into the warm sand of the beach. Treat yourself to Bath and Body Works At the Beach candle, and you will feel like you are transported to your own happy place. I know my family and I have many happy memories of our beach vacations, and books like this remind me of how grateful I am for my own family and the many happy memories we share.
Simba gives this book four paws (he loved Piper's adorable cat Ariel and tolerated George, Kaiah's long lost golden retriever that is returned to her). I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book to read and give an honest review. Happy Reading!!
