The Christmas Coin By: Lindsay Gibson

"When one door closes another opens.  Expect that new door to reveal even greater wonders and glories and surprises.  Feel yourself grow with every experience.  And look for the reason for it."  Eileen Caddy

The Christmas Coin is that book will stay with me long after I have finished reading it.  Readers will come to love the quaint, pictersque New England town of White Bridge, Connecticut.   Not just the town, but the characters will touch your heart in such a way that you will consider them friends.  Gibson writes this book with such emotional depth and poignancy that you will want to stay up all night finishing it.   It is so much more than just the love story of Amelia and Ben: it is the story of family, small town living, and opening one's heart to new season of life.  It is giving us permission to take the time to grieve when we move to a different season of life, but then to embrace that new season and all the hope and joy it offers.

The Christmas Coin begins with ballet dancer Amelia Collins learning the devastating news that she will no longer be able to dance professionally due to an ankle injury.  To add to the heartbreak, her twin brother has never seen her dance in her beloved role of the Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker.  On top of this, her family is facing her brother's fight with leukemia.   When Amelia, finds an old farmhouse at a price that seems too good to be true, she jumps in and buys this hidden gem.  When she arrives, she sees not only this old farmhouse in need of work, but a huge barn, and acres of beautiful Connecticut scenery.

Amelia, sure her dancing days are behind her, but on her first day in town, she is drawn into one of the town's many Christmas activities.  She witnesses a performance by the town's dance studio.  In a chance meeting with the dance instructor and a young girl by the name of Ava (who happens to be playing the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy in their own upcoming production), Amelia is drawn into helping Ava prepare for her upcoming performance.  While enjoying many of Whitebridge's many Chritmas traditions (cutting down a tree from the local tree farm, a Christmas train ride, and a special shopping day) Amelia and Ben begin a slow journey to romance.    Will the discovery of an old European coin in the attic of her home, and the quest to find the rightful owner put a sudden end to what could be the start of Amelia's future in White Bridge and the love of a lifetime for Ben and Amelia?

Gibson skillfully, with depth and sensitivity brings the story of Ben and Amelia together, while telling the backstory of the farmhouse and the old, heirloom European coin.  You will laugh and cry with Ben and Amelia as they navigate this new season of their lives learning that the future is filled with much hope and possibility.  If you want that sweet, Christmas romance that will touch your heart, and leave you a better person after reading, then you must read The Christmas Coin.  Allow yourself to be lost in Ben and Amelia's story and take away the hope it brings for your own future.

This book will be perfect with a cup of peppermint mocha coffee and a Christmas candle (Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint or Peppermint Bark are two I would recommend).   Curl up in your favorite Christmas pj's and blanket and you are reading to dive into this very special cozy Christmas romance.  Warning:  you might need some tissues, and after meeting Amelia's mother you might be tempted to go by out your local Hobby Lobby store's Christmas section.  Simba loves this book, and highly recommends it by giving it 4 paws (He thinks Amelia's sweet cat Mocha is the purrfect character).  Happy Reading!!

I am so glad that I have discovered Harpeth Road Press, and authors such as Lindsay Gibson along with Jenny Hale, Savannah Carlysle and many more.  Look for their books on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and they are available to read on your Kindle.
