Heirs and Graces at Highland Hall By: Hannah Lynn

Want to cozy up with a book set by the Scottish Loch?  Look no farther than Heirs and Graces at Highland Hall by Hannah Lynn.  In her Second book of the Highland Hall series, author Hannah Lynn continues to story of Rebecca Barker and Duncan MacDuffrey. (Don't worry this can be read as a stand alone or you might want to go back and read Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall).  Rebecca, or Bex has left Highland Hall for her office in London where she is still brooding over groundskeepr Duncan MacDuffrey.  The reasons they break up become blurred as she is called back to Highland Hall after the passing of Fergus, the beloved lair.  

Bex, an accountant is called back to sort out the Laird's estate with his attorney.  What should be a fairly easy transition to Fergus's nephew, who is very removed from Highland Hall in London turns out to be anything but simple.  In his will, Fergus refers to the rightful heir, not mentioning his nephew by name.  Bex and the attorney are taxed with going through paperwork to find a decades old secret and determine the rightful heir to Highland Hall.  

While this is going on, Bex is navigating confusing feelings for her old love Duncan.  Throw in a handsome nephew, who seems interested and Bex is confused.  Her and Duncan had broken up for valid reasons (or so she tells herself).  Finding herself back in Scotland, however, causes Bex to question her feelings.  Throw in a sweet dog,  the beautiful Scottish scenery, a love triangle, and a mystery this is the perfect book to cozy up on a cold winter's night.  I highly recommend curling up with a candle (Bath and Body Works Marshmallow Fireside matches the mood of this book perfectly), a hot cup of tea and your favorite blanket.  Get lost in Bex and Duncan's story.  Simba gives this book three paws (there is a Maine Coon kitty and some dogs that make the story much better in Simba's humble opinion.  Happy Reading!!

Getting Started

Growing up as an only child,  with older parents,  made for a very lonely childhood.  Books became my best friend.   My parents were always afraid to let me be play outside, and there were not many kids My age to look forward to.   Weekly, or sometimes bi-weekly trips, to the local library became the highlight of my days.   I would come home with stacks of books that would allow me to escape into a world filled with possibilities.  From the Babysitters Club, to Ramona and Beezus,  Mary Lenox in the Secret Garden, and Fern in Charlotte's web, I would lose myself for hours in a world where I felt safe and confident.   These characters became some of my closest "friends" and helped me to escape from a lonely and isolated childhood.   I was a fast reader and devoured so many books, I couldn't begin to name them all.   As an adult, I still love to read and find myself identifying with characters in my novels...
