A Winter of Sweet Secrets by: Heidi McCahan

I love the book of Jeremiah, and this verse, and I felt it fit very well in Heidi McCahan's newest winter novel.  Fans of harlequin love suspense books will enjoy this charming cozy winter book, that takes you to the remote town of Evergreen, Alaska.   

The story begins as Jovi Wright is called home by her older sister calls Jovi home to help with the Evergreen Candy Company, a family legacy started by their grandparents.  With their grandfather no longer with them, their beloved Grammie has just been moved to a memory care facility.  Jovi is recovering from a break-up with her fiance and her sister and husband are struggling in their marriage.  Compounded on top of all of this Jovi's parents want to sell their beloved family company.  Jovi, who has been away for years as a traveling nurse swoops in feeling like if they just find the salted Carmel chew recipe, the company can remain in the family.

Flying home, Jovi meets Burke Solomon, nephew to Grammie's sworn enemy.  Trying to navigate family tensions, a missing recipe, and a family mystery make Jovi's desire to and plans to save the company seem hopeless.  With unexpected help from Burke (throw in some romance as well) Jovi learns that our Soverign Lord is always working and has an amazing plan for our lives.  Her and her sister will see God's goodness and it is all in His time not our time.  

A Winter of Sweet Treats is that cozy little romance book that readers will love escaping to small town America, and being reminded of the goodness of our ever Faithful, loving heavenly Father.  Light up that favorite candle (Bath and Body Works Cinnamon Carmel Swirl goes perfectly with this sweet romance story), grab your favorite candy and some sweet hot chocolate as you take an unforgettable journey to Alaska.  I pray that you will be reminded of God's love and care for you and find rest at the center of His will for you life.  Simba enjoyed this special winter novel and gives it four paws.  Happy Reading!!

Getting Started

Growing up as an only child,  with older parents,  made for a very lonely childhood.  Books became my best friend.   My parents were always afraid to let me be play outside, and there were not many kids My age to look forward to.   Weekly, or sometimes bi-weekly trips, to the local library became the highlight of my days.   I would come home with stacks of books that would allow me to escape into a world filled with possibilities.  From the Babysitters Club, to Ramona and Beezus,  Mary Lenox in the Secret Garden, and Fern in Charlotte's web, I would lose myself for hours in a world where I felt safe and confident.   These characters became some of my closest "friends" and helped me to escape from a lonely and isolated childhood.   I was a fast reader and devoured so many books, I couldn't begin to name them all.   As an adult, I still love to read and find myself identifying with characters in my novels...
