Fans of Susan Mallery and Jill Shalvis will adore Sarah Morgan, if you have not already had the delight of reading one of her books.  I fell in love with her a few Christmases ago when I read her novel The Christmas Escape.

In  A Merry Little Lie Becky has lived the last year hidden away from her beloved twin sister Rosie, who married her co-worker and Declan.  At their wedding a little less than a year ago, Becky faced with the thought of losing her beloved twin to marriage, fantasizes her self in love with Declan.  To protect herself, and allow Rosie the happy ever after she deserves, Becky quit her job, moved out on her own, and has faced a lonely and unfilling year.  Rosie, baffled at the abrupt exit of her beloved twin, is struggling being married to the love of her life who happens to be her polar opposite.  He is so smart, together, and she is beginning to wonder what he sees in her.  Declan, who is not one with a lot of words and fears losing Rosie, has ended up pushing her away in recent weeks.  Throw in older brother, Jaimie and his new love, Haley (both of whom have a huge secret announcement to make) the Balfour siblings all head home for a family Christmas.   

Leading up to Christmas, the Balfour parents are also dealing with life changing events, and struggles that they vow to keep from their children.   Becky and Rosie must battle a snowstorm to make it home, leading Becky to have an unexpected travel companion in her childhood best friend Will.  Becky, afraid of a letting her confused feelings for Declan out, blurts out that her and Will are seriously dating.  As each sibling explores complex adult relationships and marriages, they learn that the truth is the only way for them to grow and embrace a future filled with love and joy.  Readers will not be disappointed by Sarah Morgan's newest novel as she continues to weave complex adult and family relationships together into a beautiful story of self-discovery and redemption.  True love will win out, and readers will discover that it doesn't just happen, but requires depth, honesty, and work.

Getting Started

Growing up as an only child,  with older parents,  made for a very lonely childhood.  Books became my best friend.   My parents were always afraid to let me be play outside, and there were not many kids My age to look forward to.   Weekly, or sometimes bi-weekly trips, to the local library became the highlight of my days.   I would come home with stacks of books that would allow me to escape into a world filled with possibilities.  From the Babysitters Club, to Ramona and Beezus,  Mary Lenox in the Secret Garden, and Fern in Charlotte's web, I would lose myself for hours in a world where I felt safe and confident.   These characters became some of my closest "friends" and helped me to escape from a lonely and isolated childhood.   I was a fast reader and devoured so many books, I couldn't begin to name them all.   As an adult, I still love to read and find myself identifying with characters in my novels...
