Snowy Surprises in the Highlands by Lisa Hobman
"Christmas is a time to believe in the magic of love and the power of miracles." (Author unknown)
What is more romantic than cozying up by the fire, a nice mug of hot cocoa (dark chocolate is my personal favorite), and that very special romance novel? Lisa Hobman gives readers the perfect book to do just that in Snowy Surprises in the Highlands. Imagine yourself in the middle of a Hallmark Christmas movie complete with: a Scottish castle, the cute and playful golden retriever puppy, and plenty of romance. Fans of cozy Christmas movies will not want to miss this new book in the Scottish Highlands series.
Bella Douglas and her boyfriend have it all going for them in their new home on thr Isle of Sky. Her interior design business is taking off and her beloved granny Isla lives near by along with his mom. When Harris gives her the cutest golden retriever puppy for Christmas complete wirh a beautiful solitaire engagement ring, everything seems perfect. Fast -forward into the new year and the happy couple realizes that even when you are in love, life still happens. Bella misses her friends and parents who are still at Drumblair Castle. Thrown in the mix is Bella's wealthy American clients wanting her to design their new hotel.
Bella and her fiancee, Harris, realize that they still have a lot of growth to do during their year of being engaged and what really matters in their relationship. Bella learns to stand up for her self in business (dealing with the rude and flirtatious son of her clients). Both learn to let go of the past (infatuations and love), embrace the moment, and to not worry about the future. They also learn that love and treasuring people are more important than the best laid plans, as you are not always promised tomorrow.
I truly enjoyed this book- curled up under my Peanuts Christmas blanket. I could picture myself in the beautiful Scottish countryside (enjoying the sights, tastes, and smells of a traditional Christmas). I loved the flow of the story along with the growth of the main characters and the depth all of the secondary characters brought to their story. Bella and Harris' story drew me in and I felt myself identifying a lot with Bella and some of the insecurities and worries she struggled with. Bella, and all of the characters and their experiences were very relatable.
Snowy Surprises in the Highlands becomes available for purchase on September 5, 2025 by Baldwin books. Fans of Debbie Macomber and Jenny Hale will not want to miss out on this cozy Christmas romance.
