Snow Kissed by RaeAnne Thayne
What a magical and romantic time of year Christmas is. The joy and wonder of Christmas brings out the inner child in all of us. From that beautifully decorated tree (especially those keepsake ornaments), the twinkling lights, the smells of Christmas (from cookies baking to the fresh smell of evergreen and pine), and the simple joy and wonder of a child as they experience everything with a pure heart, and so much more! Snow Kissed by RaeAnne Thayne is that special, cozy Christmas romance that brings all of the hope, joy, and love of the most blessed time of year. Readers will feel like they are in that perfect Hallmark movie, and experience all those memories and moments that make Chiristmas that wonderful time of year. They will be so caught up in this beautiful story of: love, romance, grace, forgiveness, and second chances - and carried away to that time of year where everything is possible.
In Snow Kissed author RaeAnne Thayne takes readers back to the picturesque town of Shelter Springs (I highly recommend her other Christmas romances set here as well). Readers are immediately drawn into the story of Hope Goodwin, a shelter spring native who has returned home. She is the divorced mother of 5 year old Lydia, a precious little girl who is loved by all who meet her. She soon wraps newcomer Ryan Caldwell, who has come to town to help his beloved sister and take of his niece, around her finger. Holly, the owner of the local flowe shop, finds herself in a predicament. She has been asked to not only do all the flowers foe rhe upcoming wedding of her ex-husband's sister; but to also also own Lydia to be flowering. While Holly loves her exes family, she is still battling a lot of hurt from his affair and the divorce. Not only that but he is now re-married with a new baby. Holly resents how her ex-husband has neglected sweet Lydia (partly because of her disability). Holly's twin sister, Hannah comes up with the suggestion of Holly having a date to the wedding and a fake relationship. Who better than handsome, navy pilot Ryan Caldwell. No one counted on falling in love and Ryan certainly did not count on two very special ladies becoming the center of his world.
Snow Kissed is a beautiful, cozy romance that also deals with many real life issues with grace and sensitivity (divorce, children with special needs, substance abuse, family dysfunction, and the death of a parent). Thayne does a masterful job of weaving these issues into a beautiful Christmas romance. The main characters have a depth and maturity that readers will appreciate. I was empathizing with both lead characters throughout, and just felt like I personally knew not only them, but several secondary characters from Hope Springs. Thayne also touched on the importance of healing, forgiveness, and moving on. This was handled with a sweet blend of sensitivity, and realism. Also, truly important (especially from those who have experienced these real life traumas) she shows that forgiveness and healing are possible with true and sincere repentance and apology. Most importantly readers take away that anything is possible at Christmas with love.
Simba enthusiastically gives this book 4 paws!! Curl up with a nice candle (Twisted Peppermint from Bath and Body works always reminds me of the child-like wonder of Christmas). You might also want to have a box of tissues handy for this touching, sweet, and sentimental romance. Be warned - you might even be tempted to put up some Christmas lights!
