If I'd Have Known by Savannah Carlisle

"Caring about someone doesn't mean losing a piece of yourself - It's about finding the pieces you didn't even know were missing."

Fans of RaeAnne Thayne, Debbie Macomber , and Jenny Hale are going to love Savannah Carlisle, and her newest book  If I'd Have Known.  This second book in her Big Dune Island series, can be read as a stand alone.  Readers will be given a special treat as they pick up this story and immediately be swept away into the small community of Big Dune Island.  The story opens as friends Gigi Franklin and Austin Beckett are tasked with pulling off the seemingly impossible task of a secret wedding for mutual friends Callie and Jess.   Along with pulling off this special wedding for their dear friends, they are also tasked with saving the local bed and breakfast from land developers.  Who is the rightful heir of this beach front home?  As Austin and Gigi work together, they began to see each other as more than just friends.

As we all know too well, the road to happily ever after is not always smooth sailing for Gigi and Austin.  Gigi, a successful attorney, still has to make peace with her mother, Mrs. Myrtle and realize that she can have marriage, and family along with her prized and cherished independence.  Austin, as well needs to make peace with his past and what he perceived as criticisms from a father who wanted to live out his baseball dreams through his only son.   As Austin coaches little league, he becomes attached to one of his players, and through a set of unforeseen circumstances finds himself applying to become a foster parent.

Readers will fall in love with not only Gigi and Austin, but the delightful cast of characters throughout this small-town coastal romance.  This touching love story shows that healing and forgiveness are always possible even with the most rocky parent-child relationships.  Readers will find themselves crying and laughing along with Gigi and Austin as they discover what is really important in life and how much sweeter it is with that special person at your side.

This is the perfect novel for this time of year as we are sending our children back to school, and want a quick get-away back to the quiet lazy days of summer.  You will be able to picture yourself in a comfy rocking chair on that southern porch overlooking the beautiful ocean.  So, go find that perfect outdoor space (adirondack chair or back patio or deck) and be swept away to your happy place on the beach.  This book is currently available for purchase wherever books are sold.  Simba gives this book four paws!  Happy Reading!
